Christopher Tilghman is the author of two short story collections, In a Father’s Place, and The Way People Run, and three novels, Mason’s Retreat, Roads of the Heart, and The Right-Hand Shore. His short fiction has appeared in the New Yorker and in many literary quarterlies, and has been selected three times for the Best American Short Stories and anthologized widely.
His honors include fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and Massachusetts Artists Foundation, and his awards include the Whiting Writer’s Award and the Ingram Merrill Fellowship. He is a Professor of English at the University of Virginia, and divides his time between Charlottesville, Virginia and Centreville, Maryland.
