When is the next BTO conference?

The next BTO conference will take place on March 5, 2022. Check-in will start  at 8:30 a.m. and the program kicks off at 9 a.m. There will be four 90-minute sessions throughout the day, with eight options to choose from. The last session starts at 3:30 p.m. and concludes shortly before 5 p.m.

Where is the BTO conference held?

The event will be held at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, Maryland, at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Maryland Route 213. The address is 1000 College Circle in Wye Mills, MD 21678.

PLEASE NOTE: As of January 1st, this event will be LIVE in-person at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, Maryland.  Should Maryland State mandates change due to Covid-19, the conference will be held live on Zoom. 

Will a hybrid option be available for participants (live and streamed simultaneously)?

At this time, due to limited on-site technology, the conference will be offered in-person, live only at Chesapeake College, in Wye Milss, Maryland.  If needed, due to Maryland State Covid-19 restrictions, the conference will be live streamed on Zoom.  At this time ESWA cannot offer both simultaneously.

Is there a deadline for registration?

Yes. Registration must be done online; the deadline for BTO 2022 registration will be at 11:59 pm on March 3, 2022, two days before the conference. Fair warning, the BTO conference has limited seating and generally sells out before the deadline. 

What is the registration fee?   

Prices for the 2022 BTO Writers Conference are:

  • Early Bird ticket: $95 for ESWA members; $130 for non-members through January 31, 2022. 
  • Regular, full-price ticket: Starting February 1, tickets will be $105 for ESWA members, and $140 for those who are not members of ESWA.

TICKET SALES END AT 11:59 pm on MARCH 3. Tickets WILL NOT be available the day before or at the door.

        How can I pay for the conference?

        When you register online, you'll be given a choice of paying online by entering your credit card number or signing into PayPal and using your PayPal account.

          What is the refund policy?

          You must send a refund request to baytooceanwritersconference@gmail.com by February 19, 2022 in order to obtain a full refund of your fee.  
          ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS will be available after February 19, 2022.

          What does the registration fee include?

          It includes your choice of four sessions from among 32 different presentations offered (eight different ones each session). There are also two special sessions with poet James Arthur. Additionally, there is a keynote address by author Teri Ellen Cross Davis from 1:00-1:45.

          What is the program lineup, and how does it work?

          Choices, choices, you'll have lots! In addition to the keynote, you may attend up to four sessions offered throughout the day. Eight different options are offered concurrently in each of four time slots, plus two special sessions, for a total of 34 different sessions, with short breaks between.  

          Do I need to sign up in advance for the sessions I want to attend?

          No.  Seats for each session are limited due to fire marshal restrictions however, so please be timely.

          Will the conference be recorded?

          No.

          Will handouts be provided at all sessions?

          Some, but not all, speakers provide handouts via email or posting a link to their website. 

          Do I get course credit for attending BTO? 

          No course credit is given for the conference.

          How do I become a speaker at a future Bay to Ocean Writers Conference or volunteer to help with th conference?

          How do I join the Eastern Shore Writers Association, which sponsors the Conference?

          You may fill out an online application here.  Or simply register for the BTO Conference; we will register your BTO membership automatically when we process your ticket.
