MARIAH BURTON NELSON is the author of seven books, including The Stronger Women Get, The More Men Love Football. Four were published by major houses: Random House, Harcourt, Harper, Morrow; two by trade publishers, and one self-published. Her essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Solstice Literary Magazine, Pulse, Fourth Genre, Bay to Ocean Journal, Delaware Beach Life, and elsewhere. She has given keynote speeches in 49 of the 50 U.S. states. In addition to Stronger Women, the weekly Substack she writes and illustrates, she publishes Women’s Sports Policy, a second Substack, for the Women’s Sports Policy Working Group. A lifelong athlete, Mariah played Stanford and professional basketball and recently won a silver medal in cornhole at the National Senior Games.
